The Post-Mining Alliance is...
...an independent, not-for-profit group with a mission to encourage and promote the regeneration of old mine sites for the sustainable benefit of the local community and natural environment. Our funding comes from a balance of public and private sources.
Our aims are:
- To catalyse action on mining legacies – converting liabilities to opportunities;
- To stimulate the uptake of good practice in integrated mine closure; and
- To encourage solutions where risks, responsibilities and opportunities are shared.
We do this by:
- Working with partners to advance site-specific solutions;
- Collating case studies of good practice from around the world;
- Facilitating and convening events to develop successful approaches to post-mining regeneration;
- Networking with regional centres of excellence; and
- Education and public engagement through our activities with the Eden Project.
